1st PART - Description:

Do you work with large, complex datasets? Data visualisation can help. Using principles of human visual perception with modern methods and tools, you can create insightful visual representations of complex data, as well as compelling visualisations for communication.

I will present a tour of state-of-the-art methods and practices for turning data into insightful visualisations that tell compelling stories. Many of examples presented will be drawn from my own research, which focuses on the data from the life sciences. However the principles are general, and can be used by anyone working with data, including communicators, scientists, programmers, designers, and visual artists.

It is recommended to bring your own laptop (no specific software required).

2nd PART - Description:

ggplot2 es una poderosa libreria de R para generar graficos y visualizaciones de datos. A diferencia de otros paquetes, está basado en el concepto de una " gramatica de grafos". Esto le da al usuario la libertad de poder articular un conjunto de componentes basicos en infinidad de combinaciones para producir las representaciones visuales más apropiadas en cada caso.
En este curso "hands-on" presentaremos una introducción a ggplot2 a través de una serie de ejemplos, tutoriales y ejercicios. Se requiere que los participantes traigan sus laptops con el paquete previamente ggplot2.
